When the ignition is switched ON, the wrench indicator light turns on and then turns off after a few seconds.
The wrench indicator light turns on under the following conditions:
When the preset maintenance period has arrived.
When it’s time to replace the engine oil.
Refer to Maintenance Monitor (Search).

The engine computer monitors the condition of the engine oil, and the wrench indicator light turns on when the oil replacement period has come.
Check the engine oil. Refer to Inspecting Engine Oil Level (Search).
Replace the engine oil if the wrench indicator light does not turn off even though the engine oil level is in the normal range.
Depending on the vehicle use conditions, the wrench indicator light may turn on for reasons other than the preset maintenance period.
The wrench indicator light turns on earlier than the preset period depending on vehicle usage conditions.
Whenever the engine oil is replaced, a reset of the vehicle engine control unit is necessary.
Your Authorised Mazda Repairer will be able to reset the engine control unit or see (Search) for the Vehicle engine control unit reset procedure.
