Emission control and related systems

The ignition and fuel systems are highly important to the emission control system and to efficient engine operation. Do not tamper with them.

All inspections and adjustments must be made by an expert repairer, we recommend an Authorised Mazda Repairer.

Chart symbols:

I: Inspect: Inspect and clean, repair, adjust, fill up, or replace if necessary.

R: Replace

C: Clean

T: Tighten

Remarks:

  1. If the vehicle is operated in very dusty or sandy areas, clean and if necessary, replace the air filter more often than the recommended intervals.

  2. Implement the fuel injection amount correction.

  3. Also inspect the air conditioner drive belts, if installed.

If the vehicle is operated primarily under any of the following conditions, inspect the drive belts more often than the recommended intervals.

    1. Driving in dusty conditions

    2. Extended periods of idling or low speed operation

    3. Driving for long period in cold temperatures or driving regularly at short distance only

    4. Driving in extremely hot conditions

    5. Driving in mountainous conditions continually

  4. If the vehicle is operated primarily under any of the following conditions, replace the engine oil and oil filter more often than the recommended intervals.

    1. Driving in dusty conditions

    2. Extended periods of idling or low speed operation

    3. Driving for long period in cold temperatures or driving regularly at short distance only

    4. Driving in extremely hot conditions

    5. Driving in mountainous conditions continually

  5. Reset the engine oil data after replacing the engine oil.

  6. Use of FL-22 is recommended when replacing engine coolant. Using engine coolant other than FL-22 may cause serious damage to the engine and cooling system.

  7. Inspect the battery electrolyte level, specific gravity and outer appearance. The sealed battery only requires an outer appearance inspection.

  8. If the brakes are used extensively (for example, continuous hard driving or mountain driving) or if the vehicle is operated in extremely humid climates, replace the brake fluid annually.

  9. This is a full function check of electrical systems such as lights, wiper and washer systems (including wiper blades), and power windows.

  10. The Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) initialization must be performed so that the system operates normally (if equipped).

  11. If the vehicle is operated primarily under any of the following conditions, rotate the tyres more often than the recommended intervals.

    1. Driving on bumpy roads, gravel roads, snowy roads or dirt roads

    2. Driving uphill and downhill frequently

    3. Repeated short-distance driving

    4. On roads having many roundabouts
